Locum Village Health Aide Instructors Needed in NW Alaska! Month-On/Month-Off – Starts ASAP

 4396S – Love teaching and sharing your passion for excellence in healthcare with others?  This is the perfect position for those of you who have a passion for teaching and mentoring!  This opportunity will allow you to work with local communities in Alaskan villages by teaching, guiding, and supporting local village Health Aides.

We are currently in search of 3 Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants who can commit to rotations of 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off in rural north Alaskan villages.  The providers will rotate opposite each other and will be responsible for instruction, medical skills training evaluation, and supportive services to Community Health Aides and Practitioners in the village clinics.  Provider will work with the training program leader and will rotate to different villages training health aides within those villages and providing support as needed.  

Dates: ASAP and Ongoing – Start date is negotiable if you cannot start ASAP.

OVERVIEW:

  • Locum Tenens
  • APP will provide instruction, medical skills training evaluation and supportive services to Community Health Aides/Practitioners in the village clinics.  
  • 4 weeks rotations (one or two year positions available)
  • Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm 
  • Weekends off, no on-call
  • Travel to and from other village clinics is required 

COMPENSATION DETAILS:

  • Pay: $900 per day for every day you are in region. Make $25,200 in one 4 week rotation! 
  • Holiday pay: $1350 per day (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's)
  • Paid travel day of $900 at the beginning and end of the assignment
  • Housing and travel expenses included and are arranged for you
  • Medical malpractice insurance provided
  • 1099 contractor position
  • Help change healthcare in rural villages by ensuring adequate training and exceptional skills within these deserving communities.  

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Active NP or PA License with State of Alaska
  • Provides instruction, medical skills training evaluation and supportive services to Community Health Aides/Practitioners in the village clinics.  
  • Covid Vaccination required. 
  • Primary Care, and some emergency care experience required for instruction and evaluation purposes.
  • Teaching/Instructing experience in a group or 1:1 highly preferred
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, Alaskan Certified Health Aide Programs highly preferred.
  • Alaska bush experience highly preferred
  • Must be able to work independently and be a self starter
  • Must be culturally sensitive and willing to embrace the native community and their culture.
