Describe your pre-medical and/or pre-locum work experience.

I’ve worked in the military (USMC), firefighter/medic, ER nurse, owned my own business as a Nurse Practitioner, then decided to do travel medicine.

What drew you to locum tenens work?

The good pay, freedom, travel, and new experiences.

Why did you choose to work with Wilderness Medical Staffing?

Loved the website, and a few others mentioned WMS.

What have you enjoyed most about your locum tenens experiences?

New places, freedom to explore, learning from other medical providers, and just being in the rural setting.

How has your experience been with WMS?

Awesome!

What surprised you most about your locum tenens experiences?

The staff at WMS, they are consistently on top of everything.

What stands out to you about the communities and cultures you have interacted with as a locum tenens provider?

The community’s willingness to bend over backwards to make me feel welcome was striking. They are glad we come to help.

What advice do you have for prospective locum tenens providers?

Don’t wait (DO IT!)

What is the most interesting thing you’ve learned while out on assignment?

Well, how to dress for negative temperatures. I wasn’t used to snow, being from Florida!

Is there anything else you would like to share?

I’m looking forward to my next assignment.
