Locum Tenens MD/DO – Hospitalist/ED & PC – SE AK Island

06004B – We're looking for Locum Tenens Physician for an assignment on a Rural Southeast Alaskan island. You'll have the chance to experience this scenic island across multiple seasons and will find that it has no shortage of rich culture, outdoor activities, and amazing wildlife. This is a Hospitalist/ED+ Primary Care position in which candidates must have at least 2-years experience. We are looking for providers who are able to offer rotations on an ongoing basis. Don't let this amazing opportunity pass you by!

Willing to use more than one Provider and consider a rotating and shared coverage model.

Location: Southeast Alaska

Job Type: 1099 Locum Tenens Contract

Date Range: Immediate Start Date & Ongoing Rotations

Compensation: Please inquire.

Schedule: Must be able to commit to regular, ongoing rotations

  • Day Shift: 8:00am-4:00pm (Onsite)
  • Night Shift: 4:00pm-Midnight (Onsite) + Midnight-8:00am (Call)

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Volume, Clinic: 10-12 patients per day
  • Patient Volume, ED: Averages 3-4 patients per day
  • Patient Volume, Inpatient: Averages 3 patients per day
  • Staffing Mix: APPs, MAs, Behavioral Health, Dental Services, Administrative Staff
  • Low to moderate acuity with intermittent higher acuity presentations requiring stabilization and transfer
  • Inpatient care and stabilization
  • Emergency Department coverage
  • Primary Care outpatient coverage
  • Care Coordination with nursing staff, behavioral health, and regional consultants
  • Discharge/admission to long-term care
  • Must be able to see all ages

Position Requirements:

  • Active Alaska State Physician (MD/DO) license
  • Active BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, & BLSO or CALS
  • Active DEA registration
  • Board Certified
  • Minimum 2 years of primary care experience
  • Emergency Medicine experience in a low-volume, high responsibility setting
  • Inpatient care management and stabilization
  • Comfortable working with limited on-site specialty backup
  • Moderate sedation privilege needed
  • Direct experience with medevac and patient care stabilization including intubations, chest tubes, and complicated airways; must have strong suturing skills
  • Must be culturally sensitive and willing to embrace the native community and their culture
