Perm or Locum Physician – FM & OB – Northwest AK

We’re seeking a Family Medicine Physician with OB experience to join a hospital-based practice in Northwest Alaska. This role offers a blend of low-risk obstetrics, prenatal care, and outpatient family medicine, all within a highly supportive clinical environment. If you enjoy obstetrics but prefer a manageable, low-volume practice with meaningful continuity of care, this is an excellent fit.
Location: Northwest Alaska – Hospital-based position
Position Type: Permanent Position but interim Locum considered (can live anywhere in the US for either position type)
Date Range: ASAP – minimum 1-year commitment for Locums
Compensation: Excellent compensation! Please inquire.
• Paid travel to and from the assignment location for each rotation (both Perm & Locum)
• Furnished housing provided during work blocks
• Additional details available upon interest
Assignments:
• 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off rotation
• Split between OB coverage and outpatient clinic time
• Approximately 2 weeks OB-focused (low-risk deliveries + prenatal care)
• Approximately 2 weeks primary care clinic
• Optional ER or hospitalist coverage available, but not required
Schedule:
• Typically Monday – Friday, 8:00am or 9:00am to 5:00pm
Responsibilities:
• Provide low-risk obstetric care and manage routine deliveries
• Approximately 60 deliveries per year (low-volume OB practice)
• Prenatal, postpartum, and women’s health care
• General family medicine clinic during assigned weeks
• Optional ER or inpatient hospitalist coverage if desired
• Coordinate care with Anchorage for all high-risk OB transfers
• Work within a supportive rural hospital environment with established referral pathways
Position Requirements:
• COVID vaccination with booster
• Board Certified/Board Eligible Family Medicine physician
• OB experience or formal OB training required (OB/GYN not desired)
• Comfortable with low-risk obstetrics and routine vaginal deliveries
• Active Alaska license preferred or eligible
• Ability to work independently in a rural hospital setting
• Open to physicians living anywhere in the U.S. (travel provided)
• Strong interest in rural, underserved, and Alaska Native health
