Locum NP/PA – Primary & Emergency Care – SW Alaska Villages

05753D – This position offers the flexibility to create your own schedule and lock in rotations far in advance so you can plan your personal life. Two week rotations are accepted for this high paying position in Southwest Alaska. We're looking for skilled Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners who are confident in their abilities to work in remote village communities and provide primary and emergency care. You'll find people in this region of Alaska to be very warm and welcoming and you'll be immersed in Alaska Native culture all while making a difference, growing professionally, and experiencing the thrill of Alaska. 

Location: Remote Southwest Alaska

Job Type: W-2 and 1099 Locum Tenens Contract

Date Range: April 2026 and Ongoing

Assignments: 

  • Specific rotation dates are flexible – work around your schedule and personal life
  • 2 week rotations are acceptable, 3-4 week-long rotations are preferred

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, shared call nights & weekends

Compensation: Daily Rate + Daily Incentive Pay – $1187.00 per day, ($35,610 per month)

  • $900.00 daily rate
  • $225.00 daily incentive
  • $62 per diem
  • Orientation days during your first rotation are paid under different structure

Responsibilities:  

  • Patient volume: Averages 4-12 per day
  • On-Call Details: 
    • Triage line in Anchorage takes first call
    • Health Aides share call, some villages another APP will share call
    • A Physician is always available at main facility for consultations and run medevacs

Requirements:

  • Active Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) license with the State of Alaska
  • Active BLS, ACLS, & PALS
  • ATLS preferred
  • Active DEA registration
  • Minimum 2 years of solo full-spectrum emergency experience
  • Must have good primary, chronic and preventative care experience
  • Direct experience with medevac and patient care stabilization must have strong suturing skills
  • OB & Peds experience preferred but not required
  • Pre-natal visits are not required
  • Well child & well woman experience is a plus but not required
  • Experience with substance abuse is highly preferred
  • Experience working in remote Alaska is highly preferred
  • Must be culturally sensitive and willing to embrace the native community and their culture
