Locum NP or PA – Primary & Emergency Care – Northwest Arctic AK

We’re seeking dedicated Nurse Practitioners (NPs) or Physician Assistants (PAs) for 3-4 week assignments across several remote villages. Location: Northwest Alaska
Job Type: 1099 Locum Tenens Contract
Date Range: May 4th, 2026 and Ongoing
Compensation:
- $930.00 daily date (earned every day on assignment)
- $250.00 daily on-call rate (earned every day when on-call)
- $1395.00 holiday daily rate (limited holidays apply)
- 2 paid travel days (1 arrival, 1 departure), paid at the daily rate
Schedule:
- 3-4-week long assignments (multiple-rotation commitment highly preferred)
- Clinic Schedule, Monday-Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm
- Either solo or shared call depending on specific village assignment
Responsibilities:
- Patient Volume, Clinic: Averages 8-9 patients per day
- Patient Volume, Call: Varies, depending on specific village assignment but provider should plan to be on call most nights
- Provider performs on POC testing, draws and spins blood samples, obtains vital signs, dispenses medications from pharmacy, faxes referrals.
- Staffing Mix: Solo Provider assignments, CHAs may be available for support, depending on specific village location
Position Requirements:
- Active Alaska State Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) license
- Board Certification
- Active BLS, ACLS
- ATLS preferred, but not required
- Active DEA registration
- COVID vaccination with booster
- Minimum 2 years of solo full-spectrum emergency experience
- Strong primary care and emergency experience
- Previous experience practicing independently in a remote, rural setting
- Direct experience with medevac and patient care stabilization including intubations, chest tubes, and complicated airways; must have strong suturing skills
- Alaska bush experience highly preferred
- Must be culturally sensitive and willing to embrace the native community and their culture
