Responsibilities:
- Patient Volume: Averages 12-15 per day
- Staffing Mix: 2 full time PTs, 1 PT Aide and 1 Front Office staff member
- Provide Occupational Therapy evaluation, treatment, education, and consultation services
- Assist with development, implementation, and coordination of the Occupational Therapy program
- Perform screenings, evaluations, treatment planning, transition planning, and discharge planning
- Treat general and surgical patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Provide upper-extremity rehabilitation, including wound care, tendon repair rehabilitation, fracture management, and orthosis fabrication
- Fabricate medical devices, splints, and orthoses
- Teach exercises and therapeutic movements to prevent or reduce deformity and improve function
- Promote independent living, life skills, and return to work or school
- Perform and interpret tests and measurements to assist with treatment planning and evaluation
- Update treatment plans, protocols, and procedures based on patient progress
- Document patient progress in the medical record
- Provide Occupational Therapy consultation to physicians, providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals
- Attend medical staff rounds as needed
- Supervise support staff and Occupational Therapy students as indicated
- Assist with staff development and in-service education
- Participate in clinical research efforts and specialty clinics
- Provide education to patients, caregivers, staff, and community members
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional, ethical, organizational, and regulatory standards
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited US Occupational Therapy program required
- Master's or Doctoral Degree preferred
- Minimum 3-years Occupational Therapy experience
- Current, valid, unrestricted Arizona Occupational Therapist license required, prior to start
- USPHS Commissioned Officers may hold a current, valid, unrestricted OT license in any US state, District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico
- Valid, unrestricted, insurable driver's license
- Preference for an experienced Occupational Therapist who can help start a new OT program
- Strong knowledge of OT principles, practices, theories, procedures
- Experience treating upper-extremity conditions including: wound care, tendon repairs, fractures, custom orthosis fabrication
- Skilled in fabricating static and dynamic upper-extremity splints
- Inpatient and Outpatient treatment experience
- Knowledge of evidence-based OT practice
- Must be culturally sensitive and aware
- English/Navajo bilingual skills preferred
