ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support)

ATLS™ Provider Course

Join fellow Wilderness Medical Staffing locum tenens providers for ATLS this summer! This Hybrid ATLS™ (Advanced Trauma Life Support™) course will teach a systematic, concise approach to the care of a trauma patient.

ATLS™ was developed by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma (COT) and will provide you with a safe and reliable method for immediate management of injured patients.

This is a hybrid course, with the in-person portion of the course primarily consisting of skill stations. It is required that you complete al the necessary prework prior to the start of class. This includes a pre-test, online modules with quizzes, and a review of Appendix F, Triage Scenarios, in your online course manual. The course will end after completing the written and skill station tests. Your attendance for both days is required.

Approximately 6 weeks before the course, a link to the modules will be sent to you by the American College of Surgeons with access to the pre-course modules and an online book. Additionally, you will receive the softbound book mailed to you.

You do not need to purchase any other access or material ahead of time. Once you receive your pretest and online module links, completion of the prework will be due by May 26, 2024.

At Wilderness Medical Staffing, having life-saving trauma victim treatment experience and/or education is necessary to successfully assess and treat a patient in remote, wilderness locations.

Continuing Medical Education Credit Information

The American College of Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™

The American College of Surgeons designates this Other activity (hybrid format, virtual and enduring) for a maximum of 31.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Of the AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ listed above, a maximum of 21 credits meet the requirements for Self-Assessment.

Of the AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ listed above, a maximum of 31.5 credits meet the requirements for Trauma.
