Timeline

Application

Online Application for RN and APRN licensure are completed on the Board of Nursing website.

Steps to Complete Application

Follow the above link to the application page, create an account, and log into the portal.

Once you are logged into the portal, click “Apply for License”.

Select the RN Endorsement Application if you don’t already have a Wyoming RN license. You will need to have applied for an RN license before you can apply for your APRN license. Follow the instructions, complete the application, and pay the fee.

If you are a CRNA, select to appropriate endorsement.

Once the RN application is complete, do the same for your APRN Licensure by Endorsement.

Additional Documents Needed

  • Fingerprints
  • Provide a copy of your Social Security Card
  • Provide a copy of your driver’s license, passport, OR birth certificate

Other Critical Steps

Fingerprinting

Mail two (2) completed FBI Fingerprint cards to the below address:

You can check online for local fingerprinting services in your area. If you live in a very rural area, the nearest police department should be able to help you.

DEA Registration

You will need a Wyoming address on your DEA license. This is not a prerequisite for your APRN license to be granted, but you will need to register your DEA license in Wyoming prior to starting work in the state in order to prescribe legally.

There are two ways to ensure you have a DEA license registered in the state you will work in. Some providers decide to purchase an additional DEA license to devote to locums work, but most choose to simply transfer their existing DEA license to Wyoming immediately prior to their assignment starting. Whichever path you choose, you can apply for a new license or make changes to your existing DEA registration at the DEA website.

Keep in mind if you choose to transfer your existing DEA license to a new state, the process can take up to 5 business days so you must account for that transition time.

You will need to apply for the CSR in order to have full prescribing privileges in Wyoming.
