Locum Optometrist – Rural Northwest Montana

06182M – We’re seeking an Optometrist (OD) for Locum Tenens opportunity in rural, Northwest Montana. With no call, no weekends, and no holidays worked, this role offers the chance to practice at the top of your license while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Location: Northwest Montana

Job Type: 1099 Locum Tenens Contract

Date Range: August 2026 through January 18th, 2027

 

Compensation: $120.00 hourly rate

 

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
  • No Call, No Weekends, No Holidays, No OT

Job Details:

  • Patient Volume: Average 10-14 patients per day
  • Staffing Mix: Optometrist, Optical Tech, Receptionist (no support staff for patient exams)
  • Caseload: All ages 3 and up (may see infants for emergent issues)
  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations and refractions
  • Diagnose and manage ocular diseases, visual disorders, and injuries
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and therapeutic medications
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as visual fields, fundus photography, and OCT
  • ⁠Patient education and eye health counseling

Position Requirements:

  • Active Doctor of Optometry (OD) license with the State of Montana
  • Active Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification
  • Active BLS, ACLS
  • Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience
  • Must be able and comfortable working independently and in a rural environment
